Burning Thoughts
A few things on the mind:
Let’s start with the social networking scene. As Chip mentioned, whatever muggin is, I don’t know. But I’m continually amazed at how stupid our generation and future generations will become because this stuff is saved in a database and public to all. I learned this the hard way when despite deactivating my Facebook account a secret service agent told me it was all saved, sure enough, sign in, nothing had changed in two plus years, everything was saved. Kind of scary…
Anyway, this week in sports, Packers LB Nick Barnett put on his Twitter page, “KISS MY ASS” after the Pack were booed by the home fans. Next day, Barnett says he’s done with Twitter because it’s public, no shit. We had Larry Fitzgerald text his brother at halftime of last week’s game, saying he was pissed, Larry’s brother proceeded to post on Twitter that Larry was pissed and Kurt Warner plays like a damn 80-year-old on day Warner set the single game completion percentage, and of course we be muggin’…
Maybe one of these days’ people will realize that social networking is not supposed to make you more anti-social and socially awkward. Oh well, until then make sure to follow my status and updates on my Facebook page…
It’s the final week of the baseball season, so far, officially, the Yankees, Dodgers, and Cardinals are in. The Phillies magic number is 3 while the Angels and Red Sox sit at 2. Texas plays at Anaheim for 4 games Mon-Thu, so one Angels win and they’re in…
Two races remain…
The NL wildcard: Currently Colorado holds a 2.5 game lead and magic number of 5 over the Atlanta Braves. Atlanta hosts Florida for three and finishes with four against Washington. Colorado hosts Milwaukee for three before heading to LA against a Dodgers team that could have home-field clinched before it begins. Prediction: Rockies hold on.
The AL Central: Four games in Detroit, Mon-Thu. The pitching: Blackburn vs. Porcello, Duensing vs. Verlander, Povano vs. Bonine, Baker vs. Robertson. Point blank Minnesota must take at least 3 of 4 to make this a competitive race, tying it going into the last weekend. A split and Detroit remains two up, if Detroit wins 3, they clinch. Minnesota finishes with KC at home, Detroit with the White Sox at home. Prediction: Teams split the series and Detroit holds on over the weekend…
The NHL season starts on Friday, I’ll have a preview, but I don’t have Versus. I got an email from Directv asking me if I’d be interested in re-purchasing the NHL package. When I called and asked if I get a discount because of the ongoing fight with Versus they said no, but did say they’re working on the issue. So you want to bill me for 54 games I won’t get plus any national broadcasts during the playoffs? It’s a shame this has what its come to for fans…
I thought about joing Twitter but my boys at urbandictionary.com had a better idea…: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=twitter
